Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that focuses on the body’s structure—muscles, joints, ligaments, and connective tissues—to help improve function, reduce pain, and support overall wellbeing. Our clinic takes a structural, hands-on approach to treatment.
What conditions do you treat?
We commonly help with back and neck pain, joint and muscle problems, postural issues, headaches related to tension, and general musculoskeletal discomfort. If you’re unsure whether osteopathy can help your specific issue, feel free to contact us.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your first session includes both an assessment and usually hands-on treatment. We take a full case history, examine posture and movement, and discuss your symptoms before deciding on the most appropriate approach.
Do I need to fill out a health questionnaire?
Yes. We ask all new patients to complete a health questionnaire in advance. This helps us identify any medical conditions or risk factors that might require us to modify treatment for your safety and comfort.
What treatment techniques do you use?
Our structural approach includes joint mobilisation, soft-tissue techniques, stretching, and, where appropriate, more assertive methods such as manipulation. Addison also offers cranial osteopathy during her Saturday morning clinics for those who prefer a gentler approach.
Will treatment be painful?
Some techniques may cause brief discomfort during or after treatment, especially if we are working on sensitive or tight areas. This is usually mild and short-lived. We always adapt to your needs and preferences and can use gentler methods whenever required.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person. Many patients notice improvement within a few sessions, but your osteopath will discuss a personalised plan with you after your assessment.
Do you accept private health insurance?
Yes. Treatment with Damian and Adam is covered by Bupa, WPA, and Vitality (depending on your individual policy). If you’d like to use insurance, please check your provider’s requirements before your first visit.
Is osteopathy safe?
Osteopathy is considered a safe and regulated healthcare profession in the UK. We always screen for underlying conditions, adapt treatment where needed, and explain our approach so you feel comfortable throughout.
What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable that allows you to move easily. You may be asked to remove some outer layers so we can assess posture and movement clearly. We always respect your comfort and privacy.
